The Countryside Agency aims to be a national centre of rural expertise - using high quality research and advice as its basis.

To achieve this, the Agency has an active programme of research. The results of this work are used to:

  • inform government and others about the condition of the countryside;
  • help us shape our own policies and those of others;
  • raise awareness of problem rural areas.
